NanoBase™ Cortex
Formulation Class: Haircar: Triple nanodomain delivery base for hair treatment
Primary Function: Ready water-phase + nano-structuring base that transports actives through the cuticle toward the cortex, while remaining easy to finish with rheology, conditioning polymers, and fragrance.
Developed for in-shower or leave-on hair treatments that require uniform spread, controlled penetration, and clean rinse sensorials. Cortex pairs nanoscale stability, adaptable to thin serums, rich masks, thermo-gels, or co-wash textures depending on modifier modules added.
Technical Foundation
NanoBase Cortex maintains a nanoscale droplet/vesicle distribution inside a cream-style base and ships "ready for actives and texture," so formulators can plug in cysteamine, peptides/proteins, cationics, and rheology without rebuilding the base. Engineered with three distinct domains—nanoemulsion, nanoliposomal, and nanomicellar, to stabilize diverse actives, improve cuticle traversal, and enhance availability at the fiber level.
Nanoemulsion domain: outer hydrophilic shell + lipophilic middle for even wetting and slip across the fiber surface
Nanoliposomal domain: hydrogenated lecithin + phytosterol vesicles for alkaline‑robust delivery of hydrophilic actives toward the cortex
Nanomicellar domain: dynamic micelle/solubilization capacity for mid‑polarity actives and fragrance
Formulation Performance Observations
Supports multiple textures: thin serums, rich creams, thermo-gels (thin-in-bottle, thick-on-hair), or co-wash fluids depending on finishing modules
Delivers consistent spread through roots and dense textures; supports even, cumulative outcomes
Clean-rinse sensorial with strong wet-combing when paired with cationic polymers
Maintains nano-structure under pH shift and common hair-treatment add‑ons (reducers, cationics, odor-control modules)
Formulation Compatibility
Stable under high shear/ultrasonication in manufacture; robust to post‑add mixing
pH stability range (as base): ships ~5.9; validated post‑build to 8.5 (stress to 9.0) for mild‑alkaline treatments
Compatible with: cysteamine HCl (mild reducers), polyquaterniums/cationic guar, poloxamers (thermo‑gel), peptides/proteins, amino acids, humectants, silicones or silicone alternatives, zinc ricinoleate + cyclodextrin odor control, alkaline‑stable fragrance
Not recommended with: high ethanol loads; strong anionic surfactant systems as the primary cleansing base (use Cortex Cleanse variant for co‑wash)
Use Case Examples
Texture softeners (mild‑alkaline, cysteamine-based; thermo-gel or cream-gel)
Bond‑repair and strengthening masks (acidic/neutral; peptides/dimaleates/amino acids)
Smoothing/conditioning treatments and rich rinse‑out conditioners (with cationics; optional silicones)
Deep‑moisture masks and leave‑ins (HA/PCA/panthenol + proteins)
Scalp serums and post‑service rebalancing rinses (Cortex Cleanse variant)
Shampoo & Conditioners

Notes on Customization
NanoBase™ Cortex can be modified into sibling variants to support: Fluid (serum‑light), Creme (richer mask), Cleanse (co‑wash/wash‑off), and Texture (mild‑alkaline focus), so brands can plug in actives and texture modules while retaining Cortex's three‑domain delivery and ready water phase.
