You Have a Skincare Vision. We’ll Help You Build It.
Starting a skincare brand is exciting and it can be overwhelming. Whether you’re a first-time founder or an entrepreneur ready to bring a full product line to market, Pensive Beauty® Nanoscience Labs is here to walk with you from day one and beyond. Formulation is just the beginning, but our knowledge has no end.
Your No-Cost Formulation - Before You Even Commit
We believe in our work so much that we’ll formulate your product on paper completely free, even before you sign a single contract. You’ll get an extensive executive summary, see the full ingredient breakdown, exact percentages, the why and a performance comparison compared to the legacy HLB systems 90% in the industry are still pushing out to brands of all sizes. No commitment required. We do this because once you see what’s possible with NanoBase™ nano-delivery technology in your formula, we’re confident you’ll want to move forward with us.
More Than Just Formulation - We’re With You at Every Step
Most labs hand you a formula and wish you luck, or you start witha. contract manufacturer who uses bulk ingredients have have been open and exposed. We don’t work that way. Launching a skincare brand means navigating formulation, manufacturing, compliance, insurance, trademarks, packaging, and a hundred decisions you didn’t know you’d have to make. Pensive Beauty® Nanoscience Labs supports you through all of it, not because we have to, but because your success is our success.
Here’s what we can help you navigate:
Custom Formulation Development: Your concept, our molecular nano-engineering. Every formula is built on NanoBase™ tri-domain nano-delivery architecture for superior active ingredient penetration and stability.
Manufacturing Partner Matching: Not every manufacturer is the right fit for your product type, volume, or budget. Although you could have us handle your manufacturing all done through us, we encourage all of our clients to build a relationship with a local manufactuer. Inspect the facility, get to know the staff.
We happy to help you find the best production partner and manage that relationship so you can focus on building your brand.

Copy proof formulas:
Do you know why there are so many copy cats? Because you list the ingredients and its not to hard to figure out HLB systems that have been around for 75 years and the fact that no special equipment is needed. That changes when you formulate with us. To copy you formula, one would have to kidnap our founder, get to to spill his guys about his proprietary process of the architecture itself and you would have to get him to give up his IP on the hardware design.
When you build on NanoBase™ or a custom nano-architecture, your formulas are protected by the very proprietary processing parameters of the nano architecture itself.
Custom Nano Architecture: Want something truly unique? We can engineer a signature nano-delivery architecture exclusive to your brand using the same exact technology that processes NanoBase™. Your own proprietary nanodelivery system, built from the ground up, giving your products a scientific edge that no competitor can replicate. First there are very few nanoscientists who work with similar nanotechnolgy. Second, its not about the ingredients, they would hve to understand the complexity of the nano processing methods that we developed and thirdly, there are a few components to our system that are designed by us and we don’t sell them.
Why Your Formula Deserves Better Than Outdated Science: Most skincare labs still formulate using HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance) — a system developed in the 1950s to predict how oil and water blend in macro-scale emulsions. The problem? HLB was never designed for the nano-scale delivery that modern skincare demands. It can’t account for particle size distribution, zeta potential, or how active ingredients actually behave at the molecular level once applied to skin. We can’t ethically build your product on a system we know doesn’t perform at the level your customers deserve. Yet across the industry, labs and contract manufacturers continue to charge premium prices for formulations built on this same 1949 framework — because it’s cheap to produce and most founders don’t know the difference. We refuse to do that. If we’re going to put our name on your product, the science has to match the promise.
That’s why every Pensive Beauty® formulation is engineered on NanoBase™ — our proprietary nano-delivery platform that encapsulates active ingredients at the molecular level for deeper penetration, greater bioavailability, and dramatically improved stability. It’s the difference between a product that sits on the skin and one that actually works. And it’s technology you can only access through us.
Getting Started Is Simple
Step 1: Tell Us Your Vision, schedule a free discovery call. Share your product idea, target market, and goals. No idea is too early — even if it’s just “I want to make a really good vitamin C serum,” that’s enough to start.
Step 2: We Build Your Formula on Paper. Our cosmetic scientists design a complete formulation blueprint using NanoBase™ technology, including full ingredient percentages and a clear executive summary (valued at $1,000). This is yours to review, free of charge, no strings attached.
Step 3: You Decide if you Love what you see. No sales pressure from our end. We’ll be here when your ready and for any questions. When you’re ready to move forward, let us know you’re ready to negotiate a contract. Yes, we said negotiate. We know what we need to stay operational and profitable and you know your finances and budget. The goal is to support each other the best everyone can. The average formulation service agreement cost averages $7,500 for a single one off formula. Multiple formulas adjust that rate.
Step 4: We place your ingredient order and you’re put into the scheduled (typically within 2 weeks of when your ingredients are expected to arrive). We only formulate with fresh ingredients, we don’t share ingredients between clients. Every client gets dedicated storage space in their own laboratory cabinet.
Step 5: We move into lab development, DLS validation and basic stability testing. While your formula starts stability testing we ship you out your first sample right away, for you to experience and time to request any iteration. That way you don’t need to wait the 12 weeks for the stability testing to complete. Need changes? We refine until it’s exactly right.
Step 6: Assuming your contract is paid in full, we send you our lab notes & scale up SOP for manufacturing. At that stage, let us know if you need us to point you a certain direction, or if your interested in our professional services as an acting fractional COO.
Why NanoBase™ Replaces Traditional Emulsions
Most skincare formulas still rely on HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance) - a macro-scale surfactant framework designed in the 1940s to stabilize oil-and-water mixtures. HLB creates micrometer-scale droplets that sit on the skin surface, delivering actives slowly and inefficiently. If a formula is built on HLB chemistry, it is fundamentally a legacy system, no matter how many "advanced" peptides are added. NanoBase™ operates at the nanoscale (1–100 nm structures), engineering three distinct thermodynamic domains: liposomal (phospholipid bilayers for deep dermal penetration), nanoemulsion (oil nanodroplets for lipophilic actives), and micellar (surfactant aggregates for surface delivery and solubilization). This tri-domain architecture is fully modular, each domain can be independently tuned for peptide load, oil compatibility, viscosity, and release kinetics without collapsing the others. We are the global leader in this approach, and it allows formulations that were physically impossible under HLB constraints.
Nanomaterials are classified by three criteria: (1) size (at least one dimension 1–100 nm), (2) surface chemistry (high surface-area-to-volume ratio driving unique reactivity), and (3) functionality (emergent properties absent at macro-scale). NanoBase™ meets all three—our structures are sub-100 nm, exhibit enhanced transdermal flux due to nano-curvature and surface energy, and enable controlled-release pharmacokinetics impossible with conventional emulsions. Importantly, our nano-architectures use GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) phospholipids and FDA-approved excipients at concentrations well below toxicological thresholds, and we engineer for structural stability (no free nanoparticle migration). There is no credible safety concern; the risk profile is equivalent to eating an egg yolk. If a brand is still formulating with HLB, they are a decade behind the materials science curve.
